The Bangladesh International Textile Industry Exhibition was held in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Chinese textile companies accounted for more than 1400 of the 1400 booths, making full use of the exhibition to find business opportunities.
The exhibition lasted from August 9th to 12th and was attended by about 1,150 companies from 25 countries and regions around the world. It is one of the largest comprehensive exhibitions in Bangladesh.
The original four exhibition halls of the Convention and Exhibition Center were far from meeting the needs of exhibitors. The organizers also set up a temporary exhibition hall. The number of the exhibition hall was always on the 11th. The products of the exhibitors cover fabrics, accessories, related chemicals and machinery. Throughout all the exhibition halls, Chinese faces and Chinese corporate publicity boards can be seen everywhere, giving people the illusion of returning to the domestic exhibition site.
Shanghai Huashen Import & Export Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Shanghai Textile Group, is engaged in the spring and summer of 2018 and the popular autumn-winter fabrics and local best-selling varieties of accessories and yarns. It is welcomed by many local garment factories and European and American brand companies. There are endless streams, and even buyers place orders on the spot. Zhou Wei, general manager of the company, said that the new model of “fashion + rapid response†was used to test the water, and the effect exceeded expectations. It strengthened the firm confidence of the state-owned enterprises in transforming and upgrading foreign trade and expanding the Bangladesh market.
Shenzhen Miracle Group (China) Co., Ltd. has set up a factory in Bangladesh to produce wig products in 2013. At present, the factory has more than 3,000 local employees and an annual turnover of more than 50 million US dollars. Liu Sheng, the president of the company, came to the exhibition site to find the products needed by the company and understand the development trend of the industry. Liu Sheng, who has done foreign trade for more than ten years, said that international exhibitions are the best time to promote Chinese enterprises and help enterprises to “go global.†Now domestic companies are encouraged to “go global†to provide enterprises with such funds, including funds. Various support.
However, there are opportunities and risks in foreign markets, and Chinese entrepreneurs have a clear understanding of this. Zhang Zixiang, general manager of Zhongzhi Trading Co., Ltd. from Shaoxing, Zhejiang, said that clothing orders in Bangladesh have increased significantly, and fabric demand is booming, but competition is fierce and prices are low. On the one hand, international buyers are driving down clothing prices, on the other hand, domestic labor costs are increasing, environmental protection pressures are tightening, and the cost of printing and dyeing plants is rising, which is bound to increase prices. Therefore, as far as their own companies are concerned, in order to avoid risks, they are afraid to receive special orders.
Chinese textile companies actively participated in the exhibition, and also brought local Chinese restaurants and Chinese food culture. Feng Xiaorong, executive director of the local Chinese restaurant Zhuxuan Restaurant Co., Ltd., said that during the exhibition, the Chinese restaurant business was very good. As a Chinese restaurant that has been operating in Bangladesh for many years, the restaurant room was already sold out. Local five-star hotels have also launched Chinese-themed food programs to attract Chinese guests.
The garment industry is one of Bangladesh's most important economic pillars, with 4.4 million people employed, 80% of whom are women. Bangladeshi Minister of Industry Amir Hussein Amu said at the opening ceremony of the show that Bangladesh’s garment exports will be $28 billion in the 2015-2016 fiscal year and $50 billion in 2021.
